From the formulation of our chemical products to the development of energy-saving equipment like WaterSmart and BOSS, Birko is committed to helping customers operate in the most environmentally responsible manner. Products that achieve high efficacy while also protecting the environment and the communities in which we live and work, that’s our focus.
Cleaning and sanitation are important but it’s equally important to provide products that work in an environmentally-responsible manner. Birko products do not contain ammonia, chlorinated solvents, heavy metals or butyl solvents. We work proactively to respond to regulatory changes and, for example, have in recent years removed triclosan from our hand soaps, halted the use of nonyl phenol ethoxylates (suspected reproductive toxins), and removed DEA from our entire product line.
For those customers where the salt content of wastewater is a concern, Birko has developed low or no-sodium products to help maintain compliance. Our drum and tote reconditioning and recertification program allows us to reduce the amount of plastic sent to landfills.
The BOSS, Birko’s Blend Onsite Sanitation System, contributes to energy savings in several ways. By using concentrated precursors, it eliminates the need to ship pre-mixed chemicals (and water) across long distances, saving on fuel and transportation costs. The system also manages the amount of chemical used, dispensing only the quantity necessary to perform that task.
Select food processors choose to seek certification under the USDA National Organic Program. We are aware of the challenges faced by these processors and have the technical knowledge and products to help you comply.
