Birko’s Philip Snellen Joins Board of Directors for Canadian Meat Council
HENDERSON, Colo. – Birko, a leading provider of antimicrobial process aids and sanitation chemistry to the protein industry, today announced that Philip Snellen, Birko’s vice president of sales, has been elected to the board of directors of the Canadian Meat Council.
Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the Canadian Meat Council is Canada’s national trade association for federally inspected meat packers and processors. It has been representing Canada’s federally inspected meat processing industry since 1919.
Snellen is one of the associate member representatives and will serve on the board of directors for 2013-2014.
At Birko, Snellen works closely with the firm’s U.S. and Canadian technical representatives in the protein industries. He joined Birko from Zep, Inc., where he held senior positions in both sales and marketing. Snellen’s background also includes a variety of executive positions with Diversey, Inc., and with Australia-based Gibson Chemical Industries where he became division manager for their U.S. subsidiary, Puritan/Churchill. Snellen received degrees in both chemistry and economics from LaTrobe University in Melbourne, Australia.
