Birko CEO Mark Swanson Joins U.S. Meat Export Federation Board

HENDERSON, Colo. – Birko, a leader in providing food safety solutions to the meat, produce and brewery industries, today announced that its CEO, Mark Swanson, has been named to the executive committee of the U.S. Meat Export Federation. He will represent the supply and service sector.

Swanson is known for his expertise in food safety, as well as international agribusiness, and frequently makes presentations on food safety to industry groups, government agencies and graduate degree programs. In addition to USMEF, he is a member of the North American Meat Association, National Cattleman’s Beef Association, United Fresh Produce Association, the American Meat Institute and Vistage International, a global network for chief executives.

He is on the College of Agricultural Sciences Dean’s Leadership Council at Colorado State University and is a member of the CSU CIS Advisory Board. Swanson is the immediate past president of the CSU Alumni Association Board of Directors and a past member of the CSU Center for Entrepreneurship Board of Directors. He earned a BS in agriculture business and an executive MBA, both from CSU. Swanson is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society recognizing business excellence, and a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society.
