No special training is needed! Anyone can learn to run semi-quantitative bacteria checks in a matter of minutes and get accurate, reliable results with Birko's easy-to-use bacteria detection system for environmental surfaces.
Follow these four simple steps...
1. Just pull a fresh piece of sampling tape out of the tape dispenser onto the sampling head and press it to the surface to be tested, then press it to one of eight squares on a CON-TACT-IT petri plate, leaving one empty as a control. Record the surface sampled next to the number of the square on a work sheet.
2. When all the squares are used and recorded, replace the cover.
3. Incubate the plate at the recommended temperature for 18 to 24 hours.
4. Results can be read by eye, without magnification.

- coliforms

The Birko Con-Tact-It kit features a Labline 100 incubator, designed to meet the requirements of teaching and clinical laboratories:
• Adjustable bimetallic thermostat controls temperature.
• Manufactured from durable, enamel coated, heavy gauge steel.
• Metal sheathed heaters eliminate the hazards of open wire internal heating elements.
• Corrosion resistant aluminum chamber, insulated with 1" (2.5cm) of fiberglass insulation for temperature uniformity.
• Insulated metal door with a positive latch and vinyl gasket provides an excellent seal.
• Red, spirit-filled thermometer contains no mercury and is accurate to NIST tolerances.
