Brewing & Distilling

From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)” –Bruce Springsteen

Craft breweries that started-up in the early to mid-1900’s and are now growing strong are a well-established fixture of their community. Such was not always the case. The demographics have changed a lot in the last twenty years and Millennials have taken craft brewing to a whole new level. I personally call this group “The Starbucks Generation”. This group especially seems to demand fresh and flavorful beverages and they are not afraid to pay for it. By contrast, those of us who came to drinking age in the early to middle 1980’s either did not have access or money to experiment with the flavorful myriad of styles of beer being produced. We had a whole lot of American light lager and that was pretty much it unless you wanted to be really adventurous and try some Guinness Stout or some other type of green bottle imported beer that was often oxidized or skunky (light struck).

Now, just about every community in the US has at least one craft brewery nearby and most of the beer being produced is very good. Birko has been part and parcel of helping breweries grow and expand for 20 years now, and we are very excited and thankful to be a part of this ever-growing industry. Our cleaning, sanitizing, and process aid products ensure that the beer will be consistent every time the beer is made. As we enter this holiday season, we would like to take this opportunity to say, Congratulations, and Cheers!!!
