Birko’s Community Involvement

Birko is active in both local and national communities. Members of Birko’s management team serve on several industry association boards. Third-generation owner and chairman Kelly Green is one of two women serving on the National Meat Association’s Board of Directors. She is a past board member of the National Women’s Business Enterprise Council and Colorado Women’s Business Chamber of Commerce. CEO Mark Swanson is on the board of directors for the American Association of Meat Processors and is the current President of the Colorado State University Alumni Association Board of Directors.


Fundraising Efforts

Heifer International

Birko sponsors a fundraising team through Heifer International, the Birko Greenjeans Team Heifer. Heifer International is a global non-profit that provides gifts of livestock to families who want to become self reliant.



The Children’s Hospital of Denver

Birko is also involved in the World Brewers Forum™ sponsored by KROC™, an educational forum and fundraiser benefitting Children’s Hospital in Denver.



The Rise School of Denver

Birko employees support the Rise School of Denver, a school for toddlers and preschoolers with developmental disabilities.


Birko also supports local entities such as Adams County Economic Development and the National Western Stock Show, and national associations such as the Rocky Mountain District of the Master Brewers Association, the Rocky Mountain Microbrewing Symposium, The National Meat Association, American Meat Institute, Beef Industry Food Safety Council and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
