Purac Lactic Acid and Lactate Antimicrobial Additives from Birko
Birko carries Puracs food-grade, lactate-based antimicrobials for use in fresh and further processed meats. These products can effectively extend shelf life and greatly inhibit the growth of Listeria, Salmonella and E. coli among others.
When used in further processed meats, at an application rate of 3%, shelf life can be increased by up to 110%. Application rates are based on the original Oscar Mayer model.

Lactic Acid 88% FCC for carcass application
Lactic acid is a natural organic acid that is used on carcasses after hide removal to inhibit the growth of problem pathogens. Birko stocks Purac Lactic Acid 88% FCC for this use. The Chad Co. manufactures spray application cabinets specifically for this purpose.
